Outrageous Vegan Brownies!

Say hello to my little friend!
These brownies stumped me for a while.
They called for date syrup, which I couldn't find anywhere.
Of course tenacious is my middle name so I decided to make my own date syrup, raw to boot.
It was ridiculously easy. You can find the recipe here.
These brownies are decadent while being on the healthier side.
No refined sugars, wheat-free and tons of fiber.
Here is the recipe straight from the
Forks Over Knives: The Plant-Based Way to Health
cookbook.

Ingredients:
One 15 oz can salt-free black beans, drained and rinsed
1 1/2 cups date syrup
2 tbsp ground flax seeds
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp caramel extract
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup raw cocoa
3/4 cup barley flour
1 cup vegan chocolate chips

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Put beans and date syrup into food processor.
Process until smooth.
Add the flax, extracts, baking powder, baking soda, and cocoa and process again.
Add the flour and pulse until combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into an 8 x 8 square non stick pan.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes until the middle comes out clean when a toothpick is inserted.
